I've just been listening to the Badlands stuff again and this guy is seriously awesome and so often forgotten when it comes to discussion of guitarists of his era. I guess it's probably because he was Ozzy's Randy rebound and only did one record and tour with him. Then Badlands came out when that style of music was falling out of favor and then their singer dies. It seems like professionally speaking he has had some tough breaks.

AMEN-huge jake E. Lee fan..wanted to named my kid "Jaikkey", but my wife clobbered me with a bottle of "you ain't namin' nuthin'!!"
-very unorthordox player-he attacks the guitar/aggresive,but he also played some incredible chord voicings,etc-he is a guy who could play effectively in any genre...his wild techniques(bending the neck, thumb on fretboard, false echo effect,etc..)are things of legend

Thing I like about Ozzy albums is that I can immediately tell who the guitarist is despite not knowing the song.

Jake E. was good because he fit in with Ozzy's sound, yet he retained his own identity. His solos - to me anyway - sound nothing like the other guys' stuff.

Jake E. was a wicked guitarist. If I could take lessons from anybody in the world, he'd be on my top 5 list! 8)

Actually he did two, "Bark at the Moon" and "Ultimate Sin".

Two albums and three tours. He was playing with Ozzy when I saw the "Speak of the Devil" tour in early-1983. 8)

Thanks- I don't even really know that much about him. I was into the Badlands stuff as a teenager and didn't really know much at all about the Ozzy years.
