Hi,

I am trying to work out the best way to set up a Mark V combo (with Thiele ext. cab) and a Roadster combo with channel switching from a TC Electronics G System. I realize it would be tough to switch both amps individually from the G, it only has two sets of relays, and I don't believe you can use both sets at the same time. In also have a GCX switcher. I would like to switch the channels using MIDI CC messages from the G to the GCX Switcher, which I know I can do. My concern is that this will use up the CC message slots for each preset on the G, making it impossible for me to use an Expression or volume pedal. Has anyone done anything similar and can you shed some lighton how this works? I was hoping there would be a MIDI device that listens to the G, gets a program change or CC message from the G and then executes a set of MIDI commands that are held in a database. In other words, if the G sends Program change #15 then turn on loops 3 and 7, and and assign the Expression pedal to the Wah Wah, etc. One command form the G translates into many commands out of some MIDI cointolller device. Is here such a device?

I hope I am 'splainin this OK Lucy. Let me know if you have any ideas. If I can build such a device and market it let me know. I have been looking for a better mousetrap.
Thanks

Sell the GCX and buy an RG-16 and a mini amp gizmo, both from RJM Music. The RG-16 is a looper and has a channel switching relay setup that'll do a Mark V or a Roadster (not both) and the mini amp gizmo has the same relay setup. You buy the cable for each amp and then run the whole rig on program changes. Use the RG-16 for routing and whatnot.

It's easy to do but you can't do it with a GCX and you'll drive yourself nuts trying to do it with CC messages hence the reason to sell the GCX.

+1 on the RJM stuff. It's the easiest MIDI equipment out there... throw in the custom amp-specific mesa cables from RJM and it is a no brainer.

There is a forum exactly for what you need, the RJM music forum. You can switch both amps, change channels in each amp while running in stereo. Their stuff will let you create scenes where you pick the stomp boxes you want and 1 or 2 amps and what channels on those amps. I talked with Ron, the R in RJM. Great guy that has a mind exploding ammt of info.

i second this!

now it´s about 2 years that i´m using the RG-16 with my Roadster and Dual Recto heads. there´s no other gear for that money, which can handle all this options at once.
the RG-16 works perfect! never had any problems and Ron made me a custom switching-cable for my Dual Recto, to match the Roadster-channels as i wanted it to have, and the best thing about it, he sold it to me for the same price as the regular cables are - that´s customer support to me.

the RG-16 is the main unit in my setup. without the RG-16, my setup would be more complicated as it is right now....

and that´t how it is wired up:
