Is this a C+ modified III?

I don't think so, It looks like a regular black dot. The ones modded by Mike usually have 3 +++'s on it or 3+. That looks more like an x.
As an interesting note on the 3+'s. I found out it doesn't matter what stripe color it started out as once the 3+ mod is done they are all the same.
meaning a Red Stripe with a 3+ mod isn't any different than a Green Stripe with that mod. Strips is irrelevant.

Correct. The 3+ is an attempt to get the Mark III to sound like a Mark II. There is NO such thing as a C+ modified Mark III. The preamp boards are completely different, make no mistake about it.

The best way to have found out was to call Mike at Mesa and ask. It is a dot and has the Mark IIC+ faceplate with the "Pull Rhythm" etched in after the fact as noted by the diffence in color and clarity. I was told by Mike that the early Mk III used various MkIIC+ parts in production so they wouldn't waste anything if possible in their production inventory.
