Is there a tube option for more loop headroom ?

So done the tung v1 swap and am really impressed

My biggest gripe with my 3 ch dual is effects loop headroom. I run all my effects in front of amp except my dd20 in the loop. And mostly it's good but time to time I find the loop crapping out a bit , it's not a bad lead for sure. Just a combination of effects in front seem to have no head room If I add the delay in the loop. I've tweaked all pedal settings and loop stting for days and haven't been ale to get it all perfect for ever combination

Is there a pre amp tube choice that would give more headroom to the loop? I love the sound of my amp with the loop bypassed but I do need delay for my band so it's not an option. I have the tung gold pin in v1 and the rest are a JJ eurotubes fav front end set up. I actually don't even know off my head which pre tube would effect the loop so any advice is cool.

The FX Loop driver/buffer is V4.

What do you mean by "crapping out"?

Are you absolutly certain you are not clipping the DD20? I've run rack processors at +4dbu and have never run out of headroom through the Roadster or MKV's FX Loop.

Mesa's FX Loop is line level, not instrument level, and can easily clip a stompbox.

What are your channel masters and FX send level settings?

cheers man

I'm running the dd20 in +4 mode .

I had a long tinker yesterday and I've nailed down the problem . I was running it in normal +4 mode with my effects mix at 50% . any wetter and the effects loop volume is higher than my bypassed volume . the doubling of the dry signal with the straight signal and the pedal in the loop was adding too much something and creating some weird clipping . I have put the dd20 into wet only and it sounds much clearer but my loop level is now lower than bypassed so I dialed the loop mix back to 25%wet and maxed the level on the delay's and it all sounds like it should.

not sure why the overall signal level drops with wet thru only pedals with 50% mix . tried the boss dealy and a tc reverb pedal and they both do it in wet only mode

love my 2009 3 channel but damn the effects loop is pain to deal with at times
