Is it safe to hook up while my footswitch...

is it safe to hookup the footswitch while the amp is powered on in standby mode? Or should I have all the power off when I go to connect it up? I just wondered as I hooked it up then and I heard some crackling noise when I inserted the cord.

i dont see why that would cause a problem.. i hook up speaker cables while the amp is on standby.. there is no real signal going through at that point so it shouldnt matter... and the footswitch just turns on and off relays, again not a big deal to do while the amp is on, off, or in stdby

I plugged in mine while the amp was on last night and the 'crackling' in the head is the channel switching relays going crazy for a second while you make the connection. I'm gonna try to make it a habit to connect before power up to be easy on the relays.
