Over the last while I have gotten used to my (6l6) Mesa 50-50 power amp and enjoy the tones out of it but I still miss and crave my old (el84) Peavey Classic 50-50 power amp. While both sound good they each have a distinct and desirable sound.

In my quest for awesome tones I want to know if there is a way to run more than one power amp to a single stereo speaker cab and be able to switch between the two power amps. Even better is there a way to run three power amps? I want 6l6, el84 and el34's available to switch through but how can this be done? Any idea's?

A lot of pros use more than one poweramp in their rigs - the hard part is setting up a switching system, you need a good switcher like a Voodoo Lab GCX, then a controller, like the Ground Control.

That's what I'm pondering at the moment because doesn't a power amp have to have a speaker load on it at all times?

Check skysdtrup or tonebone also soundsculpture (there might be more... I Remember a yellow one but can't find it...)

GCX will not work this way it will break the gcx and your heads

The Mesa amp switcher will also not work for this kind of setup, just in case ur wondering..
