I'm trying to dial in my C+ and found a couple of things. When I pull the bright knob it is Very noisy. Is that normal? How many of you keep this pulled? Would I benefit from new pre amp tubes, and what have you guy's found works well with the C+?

Both of my IIC+'s are quiet. Pulling the bright knob will add some noise, but very faint, unless you have master at 5 or something, then everything is noisy. Amount of noise is a very subjective thing, but i found that using ISP decimator pedal does wonders.

Are you talking about the pull bright on V1? You might have a noisy preamp tube. I have found that I like V1 pushed and the Lead master pulled, which is also a pull bright.

I posted a couple tone clips to show GEQ on/off settings. high gain, not to much extra noise with lead master at 5

Thanks Scott. where are the posts?

I just replaced V1 with a Mesa tube and it definitely sounds better and less noisy. I'm going to try a Groove tubes Chinese tube next.
