In my opinion, it may be the transition from the 100 to the 105. If they ran out of 100's and did not get the 105's yet I am absolutly certain they would use the X101. The only other alternative is it was built as a DRGX and a later owner had the tap removed. To answer your question, yes, it's odd but not improbable.
