does Mike B. work on it? is it worth it to send it in if I live on the east coast of canada? only problem with my IV at all, is I could swear the bass knob on the lead channel is always on around 2, no matter where i put it. (not a bad thing, but ya know)..ive never checked the guts, and don't know how to be honest.

If there is nothing wrong with it that's probably overkill. Do you have a mesa certified tech in your area? The mesa tech here will do a cleaning and inspection for less than the shipping to/from mesa would cost. If they find anything wrong (like a bad bass pot) the can fix it in the process.

long & mcquade is an authorized mesa dealer...but I remember asking about a marshall avt combo I had there, and they said they said their amps out to a local shop called damiens electronics in my city for most of their amp work, or send it directly back to the manufacturer...I know all the guitar guys around here..I wouldn't trust em to work on my amp...but ya everything has always been in 100% working order, and the outside looks mint. how hard would it be to check out the guts and check if the bass pot is ok? the R2 treble is a bit scratchy as well, it comes and goes..lately not really there but still

I'm no amp tech. I'll leave it to others to advise you on that. You can call mesa and order a new pot for a few bucks. Just get someone to put it in for you. It's really easy to do. I would not recommend doing it your self unless you know what you are doing.

Scratchy pots are easy. Just pick up a can of Deoxit Fader Lube. Turn off your amp. Pull off the knob. Put one squirt it into the shaft of the pot. Wipe off the excess, Replace the knob. Twist back and forth a few times and it's good to go. Wait a few minutes before you start the amp. It may take a few hours for the lube to work is way into the pot.
