I like it. I ran 83's in the gain spots, and 803's everywhere else. You get the midz of the 83's, and the richness of the 803's. I think it works really good.

Lead 2 Red. Only Deep on the 2:90 this time.

Dynamic Voice on 1 instead of 5.

DV on 1, Deep/Half Drive: EL34's only.

Very cool. The hum seems even louder this time around but the tone itself is very sweet.

 I'm glad you noticed the hum, because I uploaded the wrong clip.

The clip didn't have any hum with only the Deep function on.

This is the clip.

Check the clip again because that sounded like the same one to me. :?:

So you used 3 83s and 2 803s? I've been wanting to retube to JJs as I did with my old TriAxis but I just used 83s across the board.

Yeah man, you were like the hum is even louder, and I'm like WTF? Is he being a wise ass? :!: Because, I recorded that mix of tubes without the Modern switched on in the amp, so there was no hum to the sound! I had to take a second look at what I uploaded. I don't know how I could have ****** that up. I blame it on the Mansinthe.

But YEAH, the 83's have great mids with good articulation, but the highs are a little to subdued for the TriAxis. The 803's have great highs, but the sound is real smooth; almost vintage sounding. So the combination of the 2 really seems to work.

I put some high gain 83's in V1,V2, and V4. Then I put the 803's in V3, and V5. I also put all 803's in the 2:90 power amp.

The sound is real thick, but still defined I think. It makes the Chinese tubes sound real thin.

With only the Deep function on the amp, I think it sounds more organic. But who knows, I might change my mind tomarrow!

More mids with the Dynamic Voice on 1 instead of 5.

Sounds very excellent, makes me want to get out my best falsetto voice.

I'm gonna have to try the mixture of 83s and 803s. The TA I got this time came with a new set of the Mesa Super Special Mega Tubes or whatever the hell they're called and they just don't cut it for me. I liked the JJs better.

Had to do one more with the amp on Half Drive which makes it EL334's only. Pretty cool. :p

That one sounded the bestso far I think - very powerful feel. I'm still hearing a bit of hum but maybe it's just my crazy ol' ears.

Yeah, the recordings are at such a low volume because I'm in an apartment. I have the +20db switched on the mic pre to get a good level.

They would sound much better if I could turn it up even just a little. The recordings are from 1 cab. When I put the other beside it, it's a lot louder together. But by themselves they are real quiet. Twice the air moved, twice the volume I guess...

That 2:90 has killer volume.

I finally got around to swapping out V1,2, & 4 with JJs. Tone heaven! The TriAxis came with the new high-end Mesa tubes which just plain sounded too smooth. But they wound great in V3&5. JJs all the way for the other positions. Thanks for the tip!
