I don't know how many diy effects guys are in here, but this is worth a shot.

I recently built a homemade fuzz face following these pages.

I'm new to this kind of thing. I believe my mistake is either a reversed capacitor or the fact that I used a gain pot that may not be the right part. All of the sound coming through my pedal sounds like 2:03 in this video.

hmm well try adjusting the gain pot. if its not really doing anything when you turn it, check to be sure its soldered in solidly and theres no cold solder joints. also are you sure youre using a fresh battery? distortion pedals all get like that after a while because the battery cant supply a constant strong voltage.
