hi,
i bought a nomad 45. it had some real crazy hiss and squealing. i sent it to mesa, they changed everything at mesa. put it in a long box for me sent me a new reverb tank and a new footpedal.
it came back and had a great sound, but still had way too much gain, if i flipped the extreme switch in back it was even more insane. all 3 channels still on the verge of blowing up, the tone stacks were way to touchy. i got my white sob (MB) 100 watt in 83, i have had many boogies in the past. i was going to think about getting rid of the nomad. it was killing me knowing that boogie made such a touchy gain anamaly, it was way too hard to dial in for my clients at the studio, so nobody used it.
after reading some stuff on the boogie board about everyone's conquests!
i took.
4 jj 12au7s, stuck them in v1-4. no guts with a single tele but good with a tom anderson blue humbucker. great with a es335 lindy fralin pafs changed v1 back to the 12ax7 and it was real, i mean every guitar every channel every switch position and even the extreme switch on the back! i was so elated i was in love with my nomad for the first time since i got it.
i'm sold! it was used in 2 sessions yesterday. slamming tones but the reverb still might need something else.....
opinions?
thought?
