Good points indeed. I love playing lead and getting that nice, smooth Mark lead tone with some delay but I also love the heavy recto tone as well for some Godsmack, New Found Glory, etc. I have to agree with you about the Mark V and all the hype surrounding it, I need to stop feeding into all of that. If I could get a nice smooth lead tone out of the Roadster, I would probably go that route, but the Guitar Centers around here never have them in stock (even though they stock Mesa Boogie amps). Think I'll just pull the trigger on a used Roadster and if it doesn't work out for whatever reason, I could always sell it and get the money back and try a Mark amp.
Are you using V30 speakers in your Orange cabinet by chance? I figured the V30's would be the way to go with something like the Roadster, maybe not so much with the Mark series amps because of the mid spike.
EDIT: I actually have a couple of overdrive pedals (BB Preamp, Tone Freak Abunai 2, HBE Power Screamer) to use to boost the lead channel and to maybe get that Mark type smooth lead tone (and by of course turning the gain down slightly on the amp)... what's your thoughts on that? Would that work with the Roadster to obtain a smoother lead tone?
