help with tubes

i have a 3 channel tripple rec and just retubed it. when i pluged it in and let the tubes worm up i noticed that 1 tube is alot brighter than all of the rest.its the one closest to the 3 5u4gb's. is this normal or did i get a bad tube,and i also heard a weird rattling kinda sounded like the amp had a little tremoverb in it when i played my first few chords. :twisted:

It certainly sounds like a bad one to me.

I believe I read somewhere that the power tube closest to the rectifiers might burn brighter than the others but I canno find that source.

It almost sounds like the push/pull process of the ClassAB style is out of phase? Follow the mesa 'shotgun' method in the manual. You might also try tapping on the power tubes to see if any of them make noise.

It's normal for differences in brightness!
