I am having a problem with my brand new RK II and wondered if anyone might be able to help.

At any reasonable volume channel 1 goes into oscillation and at lower volumes there is a lot of distortion. This happens on all three modes. The other channels, including channel 2, seem fine. Am I right in thinking this is a preamp tube issue and, if it is, what is the likely culprit?

Thanks so much

Philip

Check your send level on the back of the amp. One time it had accidentallyturned all the way to the right and it distorted my cleans. It should be in the 12 oclock position. Good luck

One not so obvious thing to check is the speaker dummy load...and make sure you have the correct A/B speaker switch set properly for channel 1.

I had a similar issue with my previously owned new RK II combo...the factory shipped it with the dummy plug and speaker plugged into the same A speaker outs (4/8 ohms)...that was issue 1 -- and then I had A & B selected for channel 1...and the results were very low distorted output out of this clean channel.
