I have a Roadking combo that I need help with. I run a Maxon OD pedal prior to the preamp. When I want to select the clean channel I need to also hit the OD pedal off. Thats two stomps for one channel change. Can anyone recommend a pedal switching device that I can buy that will do what I want?

I want to hit one button and change the channel on my amp and select or bypass any effects I have in my signal change before the preamp.

I believe there is only one to do this, and that would to create a MIDI patch switching system. This would mean replacing the Mesa Foot Controller with a programmable MIDI footcontroller and getting a MIDI channel switching device for the Road King. Is this a series I or series II RK? This is where the external switching jacks on the back of your RK, will come into play. There are couple of companies that make the channel switching device you need for RK. Here are a few.

Although the CFX4 only controls up to 4 switches (I think, so you'll need more than one in a chain). They do make a custom cable to Mesa footcontroller jack so you only need 1 cable instead of several 1/4" cables.

I have the amp Gizmo for my 3Ch. Dual Rec. Solo. This device can control up 8 switches, which is what I think you need for the RK. They also make a custom cable to Mesa footcontroller jack. Also, check out the video they have for the RG-16, that may answer a lot of your questions.

Here's another option Voodoo lab.

You don't necessarily need their MIDI footboards, you could get a cheaper one, but do some research into MIDI.

The idea here is that you hit one button and change multiple things at once. Hope that helps.
