I noticed my V1 and V2 tubes weren't lit, so I changed them. (with Mesa tubes 12ax7)
Then I noticed they were both lit up really bright and my tone sucks, total loss of power??

Help??

How did it sound before you changed them out?

And tube illumination (or lack of) is seldom a sign of function for a preamp tube. EH's don't glow at all for example.

Still sounded like ****, thats why I changed some tubes... I was told that the problem might be a preamp tube or power tubes...

It just never sounded right since I bought it.

The kicker is. The tubes in V1 and V2 were not lit at all, then I changed them.... and they both lit up super bright...
I was told that a tubes that are brighter then the rest could be a short????

It looks like you just have different tubes that have a brighter heater filiment. As fluff191 mentioned, the brightness of the filiment is not directly related to the tone of the tube.

Also, a bright filiment is not shorted. If it was, it would not glow at all.

What exactly do you mean by "the tone sucks"? Can you be more descriptive?

Its weak. I've been told these things sound amazing but Im not hearing it.

When I play or hold a note there is no sustain... like my guitar is not getting through to the amp... the tone just degrades and almost sounds clean (orange channel modern) my guitars (MH-1000FR deluxe, EC-1000 Deluxe, Schecter C-1 Classic)

Like plain old amp, the distortion is weak... when I palm mute (orange channel modern)

It sounds like I have a mic in front of my guitar... it sounds like the strings do on there own.... no added balls... Ill youtube a clip for you guys soon so you can hear what im talking about. Its sounds like little farts.

As of the tubes.... I took the v1 and v2 out, swapped them for new mesa tubes.... the glowed super bright from not glowing at all... then I took the tues out of v3 and v4 and v5 and swapped them with groove tubes.

No change in tone... then I took 2 of the mesa tubes I pulled from v3 and v4 and swapped out the v1 and v2... and they glowed bright... where they did not in positions v3 and v4...

Its like the amp is no amplifing my guitar signal properly.. like I should not have to crank this thing to get a a distortion??? and a crappy one at that

active pick ups need a new battery??? something is obviously wrong here

Check your cables. And speaker cab to the cab.

The signal is not being amplified by the pre-amps properly... the sustain is diminishing too quickly.

I believe there is a problem with the input to pre-amp, or the signal is under some heavy resistance in the preamp.

Cables all new, brand new 2006 cab, and my EC-1000 does not have actives or my Schecter. And I have a second rig a Crate v-100 with a GT-10, I use with the MH-1000.
Sounds freaking amazing compared to the Mesa... and you all know that aint right.

I got a lemon recto, Ive heard about this, but im surprised no one has had this problem on here.
