Ok. I bought a Mark V Head Shell w/reverb tank. Apparently Mesa shipped the reverb tank seperately and I'm not sure how to install it because I cannot find a good rear view picture of the Mark V Head. Could anyone post a high res rear view shot of their Mark V Head? Secondly, I'm having a hard time removing the chassis from the combo. What would be proper way of moving the Mark V chassis from a combo to a head?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well Mesa shipped my head cab with the reverb tank installed...so dunno about that one can't be hard though

anyhow here's what I did...I removed the handle on the head and turned it upside down...so goes with the combo...then I removed the screws for the chassis at the top....after that, I loosed the little stabilizer bolt thing in the cab with some wrenches...once you loosen it a little bit you can hand loosen it all the way down...NOW you can slide the chassis out of the combo...just tug on the reverb tank plugs to disconnect them...remember the order in which they were plugged in...once that chassis is removed slide it into the new head cab...it's freaking heavy is this is kind of hard to do...now...insert the screws and brackets through the holes in the head cab so they will go into the chassis as far as they can WITHOUT screwing them in...once all four screws are in as far as they will go...tighten each screws a bit at a time....once you feel them set and take hold of the washer...tighten them all the way....now tighten up the stabilizer platform screwthing so that it is tight under the transformer...tighten nuts with your wrenches

hope this helps...

Sure :p

What did you do with the screw behind the second power tube from the left? Did you remove that completely?

You do not need to touch that screw to remove the chassis. I had to remove the grille on "lesterpaul's" MkV in order to get the chassis out. It was a tight squeeze.

What is the function of that screw?

It basically adds tension the circuit board...it might even help ground the chassis...it touches the metal foil at the top of the cab

learned the hard way that not removing that will either chew up the foil (and ground connection) on the way out or get caught on one of the wood lips at the back.

also, yes, pretty sure it grounds it (check out the other forum http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=25342). looking at the chassis, since it's black powder-coated, the actual lip around the chassis does not have conductivity to any of the foil (i'm pretty sure). there are not other ground wires or screw/bolt-like things connected to the foil except the chassis strap screws, which i'm pretty sure aren't actually making a good connection. personally, as an electrical engineer, i think the connection needs to be even more solid, but it still mostly works.
