New to this board, and Mesa's in general, but I've learned a huge amount about using my Dual Rec 3 chan. from the posts on here in very little time.

I know it takes months to get the perfect sound, but as far as tubes and pedals and etc. I'd love to not have to try a million products, and i thought maybe some people could help getting the tone i want. I loaded up 2 songs to show what tone im trying to hit for the heavier stuff i play. So any advice would be much appreciated.

First song is by Dredg(awesome band, if you haven't heard of them), i know the guy uses a Marshall JCM900

2nd song is a mix of Deftones songs from Around the Fur. This dude uses a rackmount marshall pre-amps and Power amps

Just trying to get a really thick, melodic distortion, that still has powerful harmonic squeals.

I got to ask... your examples of good tone are Marshalls. Yet you bought a Mesa. Why?

LOL, Lots of reasons. These aren't the only sounds i'm trying to make, The Mesa had alot of features the Marshalls didn't. Wanted 3 chan, instead of 2 like most of the marshalls other than the JVM4(which i hated). The JCM,JVM, and DSL-100 aren't as versatile sound wise. I tried alot of them and picked the Mesa, and now i'm trying to find sounds.
