Hi, I actually found this board through dougstubes.com and of course had to immediately join. I have a 2 channel Rec with the chrome knobs with the little pointers. The problem is, I'm missing one and I can't find them through the boogie site or anywhere else. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Welcome aboard!

Try calling Mesa's factory tomorrow. They close on Friday's so it must be Thursday. They may have some in a box.

Sweet, thanks!

Welcome and enjoy your recto. I dont know how long you have had it, so ill give you one pointer, the more time you spend with it, the better it will sound. l8er man

I've had it for about 3 weeks now, it's quite a jump from the DSL I had! I'm boosting it with a Maxon OD808, which really adds quite a bit of pick attack and makes palm muting sound a lot fuller. What would you guys suggest as far as preamp tubes go? Should I just buy a full set of JJ's like I used to on my Marshall, or shut I put specific tubes in specific spots, like I see a lot of people doing? What're the advantages of that?

Mesa sells them, I just bought a couple last month. They're $3.75 each, plus shipping.

Yeah, I called earlier today and ordered one. Thanks!

about a year ago people on this board tried JJ's. At first they liked them, but after a couple of months dumped them (most people did at least). The main complaint was they are too dark.

I have no experience with JJ, so don't shoot the messenger!

Welcome :D ! !

I tried the JJ 6L6's and found them dark and brittle. They had the punch that I felt the STR-440's lacked, but were not as smooth. Don't get me wrong it's a good tube but IMO the SED =C= 6L6GC's are a better choice in the Recto's. Lots of punch and a smoother top end.

Good luck with the amp and have fun with it. It's a great sounding rig no matter what tubes you try.
