I've been playing new Roadsters lately and feel there's noticeably more gain on the Brit and clean settings when you get the gain up there. Personally I like it and because I realistically need to get a used one I'm concerned about getting this same result on CH 1 and 2 as I played many Roadsters over the years where I felt the gain wasn't quite enough, more so on the Brit setting.

There were no revisions or updates to the Roadster.

We were discussing this topic a bit this week in this thread:
http://www.forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=63208

About a year or so after the Roadster's release Mesa noticed that New Sensor Brand tubes (Sovtek, EH, Tung-Sol reissue, Mullard reissue) would fail in cathode follower use. Unfortuatly Mesa was using Electro-Harmonix tubes at the time, and was selling a few Roadsters (and Duals, Triples, RKs etc) that had "volume swells/dropouts" due to these low-spec'ed tubes. A "Memo" was released from Mesa explaining this situation, and I believe many dealers were encouraged to change those tubes in their floor display models & service tech's were advised to change these tubes on amp's they serviced (that's how I first found out) to Mesa's current 12AX7, which is a re-labeled JJ ECC83S.

Some readers mistaked this as an update to the amp, which of course it is not.

Hope this helps,
Dom
