Now that I have a Mesa and am working on my "tone" any guitar or patch cables in particular you'd recommend? Over the years I've pretty much just picked up anything cheap.

Any suggestions? Not a factor?

Mogami, Planet Waves, George L's, Monster. Anything but the bargain cheapy cables.

i go for evidenceaudio

the lyric hg seems to be the best
cable i have played for 30 years

its like a boogie, built like a tank
and best sound you can get - don t expect to get it for free

I've been a die hard ProCo livewires user for 20 years. I've had very few failures (I usually lose them, forget them at a gig, have a cymbla stand fall and cut them in half by the cymbal, etc...) and they don't break the bank.

I've tried other cables and yes you can notice a side by side difference when you A/B them but it is not worth the cost to me.

I've used Mogami for years. To my ears, they are the most transparent cable you can buy.
