I've been using a NR Tungsol in V1 for quite some time, after it beat out a number of newpro tubes in a tube shootout for v1, including Sovtek LPS, Jan-Phillips 5751, EH, JJ's, Sovtek A's and WA's, and perhaps a few other random samples.
Based on the theory that any vintage old stock beats all modern tubes, I bought an assortment of VOS strong testing raytheon, sylvanias, and a vintage RCA shortplate, and all of them fell short of the Chinese in auditioning.
I play rock, blues and country live. I've got a few weeks till my next gig, but from livingroom tests, the Chinese does all of these with a superb 'feel', a blooming lower mid for some good classic rock energy, and with the tube character slightly accentuating subharmonics and second harmonics with just a nice balance of 'air' - it makes the guitar feel ultraresponsive, with 'thud' and second harmonic feedback coming easily.
Very nice. Maybe I just got a good one, but I like very much.
