... and yeah it's awsome... I've got the matching slant cab but admit it's far better through a recto 2x12 cab.
I'll be gigging and recording with it because to be honest after owning a Roadking halfstack, Roadster 2x12 and still own a Dual Rec the mini rec if voiced just right for my liking and it's so portable... I'm getting another so i got more tone options for live playing. The plan is to run it through a recto 2x12 and switch it with a radial headbone.

Cheers

That's awesome, welcome to the club of Mini Rec lovers. The tone is just right for gigging and recording. Hell, I've had so many amps (boutique) and all and this is BY FAR my favorite amp. Any tone is possible and has a great dimensional, articulate, warm sound through a Mesa 2x12, that's what I run mine through. ENJOY AND CONGRATS!

That's a great idea. I bought a roadster because i wanted more tonal options for live playing, but 2 mini rec's does the same thing and you can actually turn up the volume a little bit. No reverb, but that's a small sacrifice to a very portable solution.

Like you AB I'veowned many great amps. I really am a late comer to the Mesa Rectifier but it is definetly the amp for my needs. I also find the Dual Rec thru a 2x12 to be the better tone combination. Its closer to the recorded tones I hear from Rectifiers... it's got the lows and highs with perfect mids for my liking.

Knotts... I two got a Roadster... in a 2X12 combo... great great amp BUT it is 100lbs... 150 when it's in the ATA road case. Thats just too much when I consider I can roll into a gig with two easy trips... guitar and gig bag then mini rec and cab. Before I sold my Roadster I totally blew out my neck and shoulder lifting it on a cold day out and up over a flight of stairs. That was a terrible gig night for me and several nights of no sleep and lots of pain. I felt that for 6 weeks... still feel it. I really do love half stacks and wish transporting was much easier. I all ways said as long as I can lift them I will use them but a cold day with some heavy lifting really changed my tune :)
Besides that there is no reason to do it. The Mini Rec is incredible. I know there is lots of great gear out there these days but think back just a few short years... 10 - 15 max and an amp like this would have turned the world on its ear.

Cheers

I know. I had a 2x12 Lonestar combo that I converted to a head and cab. I actually fell down a flight of concrete steps with the thing and the amp rode me down the stairs. Not sure how i didn't get hurt; especially because it was before i was drinking.

I have a 4x12 cab and a 2x12. The 4x12 sounds great and don't mind lugging it as long as I have help. The 2x12 is almost easier to carry by yourself and so that's when you get hurt. I'm done with heavy combos.

You, sir, should be dead, let alone hurt. Congratulations on getting a 2nd life!

Anyway, I'm in agreement with all of this. I've been putting up with my LSC (back and forth between head/cab and combo config several times now) and any way you slice it it's just frickin' heavy. Now this Mini Rec comes along and changes everything. I'm running mine through either of a couple of deeper 1x12 cabs -- a Forte 3d112 with a Gold, and a Freda 1x12s with an ET65. Both cabs are compact but deep and closed-back -- they have that thump that sounds closer to a 2x12 than a 1x12. I'm considering getting a Lone Star 19" 1x12 for a lightweight open-back cab, and at that point I should be set.

Seems like having a high-quality lunchbox head might lead to a sudden accumulation of different cabs.

I entertain that same thought. Just thinking about different speaker combinations and layouts with this amp will be so fruitful.

It's good to see that others love their Minis as much as I do. I'm well past the honeymoon phase with mine, and I still slap myself for having the good sense to buy one. I kinda chuckle to myself when I read some of the rubbish talk about this amp (and MESA in general) on other forums. Some people just don't get it.

I've got one of these on the way. I can only describe this reverb as "erotic." I'll give it a review and a demo when I've had some time with it, but check this out:

Thanks. I was amazed that when I plugged in my Lonestar...no problems. Fired right up. They are built like tanks. It may not be that surprising considering my body cushioned it's fall the whole way down.

I love my Mini Rec! What a great sounding amp!! :D Hell, I think it even sounds great through my 112 Mesa Cab....which allows me incredible portability ease for anywhere I wish to play...(which is usually to just jam at a friend's house)!
