Hey guys!

I'm back in the Mark IV family, and am dedicating this amp for cleans and leads in my rig, as it seems to do those AMAZINGLY.

I'm just curious how you guys set the amp to get the best out of these two tones....what tubes? Power settings? General channel settings?

Appreciate the input!

Hey,

One thing you can do is set Rhythm 1 and 2 to get really clean, low gain tones, and use 1 clean for humbuckers and the other clean with more gain and volume for single coil tones, which will give you great balance there.

Then, for lead, just crank the gain and drive on the lead channel, Treble at like 7 or 8, bass at 3, mids at 4, presence pulled out and at 5-7, and use the EQ to get a nice V shape, adding 750Hz to taste but keeping it quite low. You should have a nice singing sustaining luscious tone there.

check the manual for the settings of clean/crunch/lead, i think that is what Dre is talking about. I recently tried those settings after shelving the mark 4 for months, just got tired of fighting with it, but when i referenced those settings in the manual that are very similar to what Dre says above, it's a very very workable sound, and probably practical too!! my challenge with the IV is the reverb, have gotten used to fender reverbs, so no verb seems a bit too "stiff" for my ears. Although in a band setting, sometimes reverb gets you buried in the mix, that's when i shut it off first and get back up there instead of turning up the amp.
