I'm fairly new to recording and had some questions.
When recording tracks, it sounds very different than when just playing. Should I make sure the EQ (from the amp) is dead flat, with no reverb/delay and other FX? I'm not sure how it's mostly done, but I was thinking that recording a completely flat signal might be how it's usually done.
When I dial in normal settings when I'm playing and then record it, it doesn't sound anything like I want it to. I especially have a problem with there being too much bass in the recording which makes my preamps go way high, so when I take almost all of the bass off -- the preamps go way down in level and I have to crank up my amp volume (or kick up the preamp a bit more) to get a higher gain/volume.
I often have trouble with the volume/gain levels =/
