So I thought I'd hook up my Zoom G9.2tt through the send & return loop of my Roadster. I figured I could step on a patch & then hit the fx button on the footswitch to bring it in when I wanted. But that's not what happened!
The effect was on continuously, and hitting the FX button did nothing. I had a cable from the send on the amp to the input of the G9.2tt, then from the output of the Zoom to the return of the Roadster, and the guitar plugged into the front of the amp.
If I used the volume pedal on the Zoom, I could increase or decrease the guitar volume, regardless of whether the FX button was in or out.
And yes, the FX loop was switched in on all channels. Altering the level on the loop altered the overall sound. Looking in the Zoom manual, it doesn't mention wiring it through the loop, only into the front of the amp.
So, am I screwing up, or is it not possible to use the Zoom in this way, and I'll have to buy an alternative fx unit?
