Actually, over many months of forum surfing I've read that the Michigan is supposed to be a clone of the older EV "SRO" speaker, not the newer EVM12L.

I had both side by side and the way I summed it up was like this..... the Michigan is like a quiet EVM. I was able to get the same sound from both, but if I had the amp on 2 or 3 with the EV, to get the same sound from the Michigan I had to turn the amp up to 5 or 6.

Of course, nothing (imo) can match a real EV. But I'm kinda getting away from that super efficient in your face sound anyway, going for the smoother models. I think the only speaker from Weber that can match the Michigan is probably the California. The Michigan is pretty honest, and obviously a lot lighter weight than an EV, but it sounds its best if you are going to run your amp loud all the time. It's not a bedroom volume speaker.
