For the folks with EQs or boosts in the loop - mix setting?

I have an original Single Recto and am intrigued with the idea of adding an EQ, boost, or both to my setup. Seems from reading the forum that lots of folks have had good results. For those people - what kind of setting are you using for the FX Loop mix? I'm not sure I fully understand what is at work there.
