As much as I love my DC-5, I'm itching for a Recto again. I think it'll fit the band I'm in better. I'd do a straight up trade for a Single Recto or I'd throw in money for a Dual Recto.

You can hear a clip here. It's the one that says 'Boogie DC-5'

sorry to get off track a bit but, it sounds like you've played a dual rectifier and im wondering how the JCM 900 compares to the dual recto? I play a lot of pop punk stuff but then I do rock, classic rock, alternative and all that. Right now, I'm really close to be buying a dual rectifier 3 channel and the mesa recto 412 cab for $1,400 USD and it's only been played a couple of times and it's mint........ it's a good deal but I have always been cutious about the JCM 900

After watching a few eBay auctions and seeing DC-5's in worse condition go for $750-$800 + shipping, I'll ask $800 plus shipping. It's in great condition and I had the tech at the music store I work in check it out and it's in perfect working order. Just an all around badass amp.

The JCM900 is a cool amp, but I found it to be a little harsh sounding. The Rectos are totally different beasts than the JCM900's though. They're both kind of one trick ponies, but do that one trick pretty well. The JCM900 is great for 90's rock and punk, but the clean channel leaves a lot to be desired and I found that you pretty much have to turn the treble all of the way off on the lead channel to make it less piercing.

The Rectos have a ton of low end and gain, but the main complaint with the Rectos though is that they're sterile and that the low end is really loose...both of which are true. That said though, after hearing a lot of clips of a Recto with an overdrive in front of it, I'm itching for a recto again. I'm probably going to pop EL34's in the Recto, turn the gain down, and stick my Maxon OD808 in front of it. Devin Townsend and the guys in Killswitch don't have a sterile, muddy tone by any means, and a Recto with an OD has been a large part of their rigs for a while now. So, if it were me, I'd check out a Recto and buy an overdrive. Try to snag a 2 channel recto though, they sound a lot better than the newer 3 channel ones.

But! I'm open to trades for a 3 channel Recto. I've had a 2 channel and a 3 channel, and while I like the 2 channel more...I'd take a 3 channel on a trade and give the person some loot.

ouch.... the price of those DC's must be going up, I bought a DC-5 combo almost mint for $672 to my door not to long ago. I should have never sold that thing.
