Hey, I was trying to dial in a nice chimey clean tone, while at the same time have high gain lead channel. using my Ibanez with HSS pickup config, EMG 81 in the bridge. my HRG set to 60 watt. STR 415's, tung sol ri and sovtek preamp tubes. using 1x12 MC 90 open back, and 1x12 thiele with V-30

Bedroom ........ Loud as phuck (for a bedroom)
V1 (9) .......................... (9)
treb (7) ........................ (7)
bass 2 .......................... 2
mid 5 ........................... 5
mstr 1 (1) .................... (3)
ld. drive 9.5 .................. 9.5
ld. master 3 .................. 5
presence 2 .................... 2

GEQ V shape, cut mids, but not to the bottom line.

ok these settings are bedroom volume, but it gets LOUD fast if master 1 or lead master are turned up. Switching back and forth, I had a great clean tone and a pretty nice high gain. The clean is way better with V1 dialed down to 5 or so, but with those setting I got a nice very usable clean with barely any breakup, even with the bridge pickup. The neck pickup sounds better, but it gets kind of boomy. Rolling back the guitar vol can help clean it up too. not that you don't know that.

I don't think it was getting mushy with the lead drive and V1 nearly dimed. Still had good definition, but I'm not sure how much that would change at stage volumes.

anyway, I thought I would share, let me know your thoughts.

thanks

Yes it's a ton. I also like low gain settings too, but I was trying to see how high I could take V1 and still get a nice clean tone, at loud bedroom level anyway.

Glad you're enjoying your amp, Scott!!

In a previous post of mine I have a picture showing the face of my amp with my settings.

Bass, Mstr. 1 and Ld. Mstr. are always pulled. I've never used it in half power, I've never used the Limit knob, and, when using it live, V1 gets turned up to 7.5 -8.
What I get from these settings is a clean rhythm (with a little bite if I'm aggressive) and a very clear, warm lead tone.

You will find this to be a most capable amp!

Hey Juan,

thanks, I was fooling with my plain ol HRG IIC+ for this thread... Thanks for the link to the other thread. The IIC+ simul and non simul coli get my vote. Man that's a beautiful setup you have! I'm would love gts to recover mine in cream bronco like that, and it will match my 4x12. Cream/black is badass. Did you name yours?

I'm still in the clouds with this thing. It's ridiculous good sounding, I don't even feel I deserve it! I'll prove worthy. JOEY B. gave me a few tips, and now I have V1 pushed and Ld. Master pulled. It is so articulate, I can hear each note ring out. It effortlessly produces so much power. wow.

First thing, take the emg 81 out and put it in the neck position. If you have an 85, put it in the bridge. Youll thank me later.

Do you still have a face ?

Thats LOUD.

Hehe, no not too loud, the master V is only at 3, so I can turn the lead master up a bit. still bedroom volume, maybe a bit louder than that. I just wanted to see if I could get a good clean tone with max distortion on the lead channel, and I did. The clean was just fine, at bedroom level anyway, I haven't tried at loud vol.

thanks....
It's a strat style with a HSS config. I hear what you are saying but I'm happy with the tone. this thread was pretty much an experiment.
