Faint ringing in amp, probably tube related.

I hear a faint ringing when the amp is on. It does not do it in standby, only when the amp is on. I am wondering if there is something in the preamp section or power tube section that is causing this, anyone have experience that might point me to the problem area. My amp is the mesa mk v.

Could be a microphonic tube.Try tapping on each one and see if the sound gets louder. It could also just be that you have the gain or drive volume too high, which is also the result of one of the tubes being somewhat microphonic, they all have some degree of microphonics.Turning the gain higher will bring out this effect.

It's best to tap gently with a pencil.
