EVM 12l Black Society Speaker

So,

Has anyone tried these yet? If so, how do they compare to the Series II EVM's? I am interested in getting an EVM 12l for my Thiele cabinet but don't want to get a twenty year old speaker.

I saw them as Sam ***.com and they sold out super fast. They are backordered now. As soon as they get an 8 ohm in I am on it and will test it in my EV 12L Theile and open back IIC's. I have 4 EV 12L's already, but I am interested in how they would compare.

Glad to hear you are going to a/b them with the old Series II. This is what I have been waiting to hear.
I also didn't realize the demand for the new Black Labels. That should be a good sign in itself.

Yeah they're in high in demand, I don't know why EV even discontinued them. It seems like all good gear is discontinued when it's always going to be in demand, so...

I guess like they say all good things must come to an end. Stupid though...

I agree wolfgang. Just like Chevy discontinued Camaros. Now they are coming back with a high demand.

By the end, Mesa was like the only company to offer it. The cost went up as the production went down and it priced itself out of production. I still do not see why they did not keep it for general sound reinforcement. It is a killer speaker.

The only thing that is puzzling me is, if it is made in the USA then what is the part on back order. A chinese voice coil? A Chinese basket?

How about the whole speaker? They are made in a small factory and I bet they are just pushing out the product as they assemble them versus working OT, etc. to keep up with demand.

I swear you work for EV. I doubt they have an aluminum smelter in the factory and 3 dozen sand casts. Somethings being held up. I bet you money

I have no affiliation with Electro Voice. Yes, I do live around 30 miles from the factory, but I could give a **** less about that. I do want to know how the "new 12l's" stack up against the "old 12l's".
