I just received this beautiful Mark IV late last night... See below. And I realize that the top row of knobs is very close to the top edge of the head-shell making it a little difficult to see what the knobs are set at. There's nothing wrong with the amp. It's just how it is. So I googled Mark IV pics and it seems though not constant, many of the newer Mark IVs are like this. Both heads and combos, shorts and mediums. Anyway, I never noticed this before.

I just got a Mark IV 1x12 Combo a couple days ago and it's exactly
the same. If it's on the floor, you can't see the top row controls.
I have a hard enough time reading them when they're right in front of me!
I either set it on extension cab for tweaking or I have to use a flashlight
and sit on the floor...

Mine is pretty close too, but not quite that close.

Makes a good case for an ext. cab! You can see the knobs perfectly when they are 3 feet off the ground. :D

There was a tweak made to the Mark IV's after the first year or two that shifted the over-hang of the shell from what I remember (chassis further back?). Apparently there were reports that if it fell face first, the pot shafts would shear off. This change better protected the knobs. I think I remember it from reading the Mark IV review in Guitar Player magazine in '89.

That sounds like a good idea!! I used to wonder how people broke their pots off till I was pushing it out the front door and one of the pots hit the door frame! It didnt break, but it scared the piss out of me!! Here is mine.

You could always pull the knobs off and put them back on with 0 set to the 6 o'clock position, or at the 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock position to make it easier to read. There's no rules saying 0 has to be at 12 o'clock.

You and your great ideas  J/K!
