So... anyone got one, tried one out or done any A/B's with any other gear?

I'm thinking of getting one but have only seen the usual youtube demos... which aren't bad at all but... I have also read the harmony central posts that suggest tone/level issues... guess it depends how you run it... any info to share? I will use it in the loop of my Quad pre into my strategy 500.

I hope to power it with my Pedal Power 2+ if anybody has tried this out? I know it draws a lot of mA's and has a sizable wallwart to boot!

Please let us know what opinions you have as I am sure there are many others who may also be interested in this pedal!

mine should be here in a few days... i'll let you know

Great stuff! I'm looking forward to your review... I have read a few other comments here so opinions seem pretty positive in general... could you let me know how you will power it? As I said , I am kind of hoping to avoid the wall wart...

I am also VERY interested in your comments about the RG-16... this seems to be a great option for the switching on my Quad preamp.

Thanks!

the rg16 is killer... i just happened to have a bstock which i knew when i bought it but you do get a lemon every once in a while... i had their amp gizmo for a while and never had a problem

Good switchers are hard to find... wish I never sold my midi matrix!

So any other people using the TimeFactor? All input is appreciated!

Had one. It's a really great pedal. But I keep going back to my Rockman Stereo Echo for whatever reason. So I sold the Eventide. It is really good though!

Thanks Boogietone... I totally understand where you're coming from... if you found what you like and it works then why bother to change it... and those Rockman units are great... I still have my 'Sustainor' which is unbeatable for putting some shred into the front end.

I still use my Rocktron MX3 digital mod delay, Boss DM2 analogue delay, DD2 digital delay and PS2 digital pitch delay on different occasions but the Eventide seems to give me a good all in one solution. Having said that I will never remove my DM2 from my pedal board!

Yeah... hard to replace the favourites!

ok so after having the eventide for a day, then going on a business trip and spending all day messing with it i decided to come on and write a first impression:

- first off the pedal is built like a tank and is quite larger than i expected

- the presets that come stock are ok... as many reviews have said before they are waaaayyyy too wet and some are just there to show what the unit can do

- the manual is very well setup and is a must to read through... also the unit comes with some quick reference cards which i find amazing because while you have your standard delay time, feedback, delay mix and wet/dry mix, but the other knobs (x-knob, filter, etc.) do different things on different types of delay

- the unit overall is very well layed out but takes some getting used to so if your not a tweeker i think you might be turned off right away... with a little time and patients you can get some killer delays and with the right mix a very transparent tone... but be carefull because with too much dialed in on the wet/dry mix, the unit will take over your tone

- i'm till in the honeymoon stage but so far so good... i'll say i expected more of the presets right out of the box but it is what it is.... the only thing the unit lacks is some way to dial in reverb with some of the delays using the xknob.... the great thing about other eventide units (especially in the presets) is how you integrate the reverbs in with the delays to get some great clean and lead tones

Thanks for the overview- I was wondering what are the power specs on the Time factor, and how are you powering it on your board?

Thanks-

Nice review jdurso... thanks! Sounds like a 'thumbs up' I believe... are you running it mono or stereo? This will probably influence the 'wettness' also.

Laskyman: these draw 9 VDC, 1200 mA, Tip hot (+) which is just HUGE! A Boss digital delay pedal pulls around 55 mA by comparison...

I would imagine that jdurso is using the supplied wall wart since he just got it but I'm very interested if he has another alternative or if anyone else may have some suggestions? I have unofficial confirmation that my pedal power 2+ will be able to run it in the Line6 outlet but of course it will depend on if I am running other power hungry pedals at the same time.

We will see!

Here's the number to Voodoo Labs (707 545 0600) so you can ask about powering the unit. I've called them before to order cables for my Pedal Power 2 and they answered the phone right away and were very helpful. It's not like calling Boss that's for sure.

you have to take the wall wart on the Eventide and plug it into the female "courtesy" outlet on the back of Pedal Power 2. Therefore, you only have one cord still running off your board into the wall so not a bad solution.

Voodoo is coming out with a product end of year that will power Timefactor directly.

because of this thread, I started looking at the Timefactor and wow, what features. I cover a lot of U2 which requires 2 modulated delays so I've been toting around a Boss dd20 gigadelay and a Line6 dl4 to accomplish this. And this will give me 2 modulated delays in one unit, with 20 presets! Selling the dd20 and dl4 and picking this up Monday. Should have done this to start with, would have saved money.

Great to hear that this has helped you out... let us know what you think after you have played around with it a bit...

Plugging it into the courtesy AC outlet on the PP2+ should work fine but I already run my TC chorus from there... However... I have recevied a (very fast!!!) reply from Voodoo Labs who 'unofficially' confirm that one of the line6 outlets should work ok to power the TimeFactor but it does depend on how much juice is needed for any other pedals.

I was also told of the 'Pedal Power Versa' to be released later this year that will cater for these pedals. Here are some comments and pics of it which I assume Voodoo Labs would take seriously as it is still in the developmental stage from what I gather...

My guess is they told you that you could possibly run from 5 or 6 with the DIP set away from normal...
This is how I will run my ND 1 (PP2 is in the mail....), however, the ND1 doesnt come close to the 1200mA of the Timefactor....
The new Versa looks cool, but I think it would be a serious shortcoming to "lose" several of the isolated outs and "handcuff" you to a daisy chain if you run a good sized board....
Anyways- I look forward to more reviews of the Timefactor...2 modulated delays simultaneously??? That is the cats @ss!...

Keep us posted...

Bought one today...so far, so good. The presets are pretty spacey! Details to come once I've sat with it for longer than an hour and actually ran it in the loop of my Roadster (I was running it in front of my Tiny Terror today).

I must say though, the Modulated Delay KICKS ***!!! 8)

ok so now after a month or so with the unit i finally am now comfortable with it. it can be quite intuitive and at times not so intuitive. i found you need to pass a good cable to and from this unit because with bad cables this unit finds a way of projecting that. i still by no means think i've got this unit down to all it can do but thus far i'm pretty blown away. one piece of advice... read the manual like ten times. the delay functionality will come easy but knowing how all the modulations will work take some time, experimentation and reading the manual. highly recommended for those that use a lot of different delays and want it all in one package. i can say that this unit can do delays you wont find outside a complex delay unit (eventide, high end tc and lexicon).
