so i was browsing around on the eurotubes website and stumbled across a page that shows an "integrated quad" of 6L6 and E34L's (2 of each) that according to them, draw the same natural plate current. it mentions something about a dual rectifier (which is what i play). i think it is something i'd like to try, but i'm not sure how it would affect the amp. if they are all drawing the same plate current, does that mean that i can run them in the DR without causing any harm (leaving it on the 6L6 setting i'm guessing?). i'm fairly new to the complexity of tubes, so be gentle. lol. i've had my DR for some time, but always bought mesa tubes to be safe, but now i want to branch out some and try new things. so basically, i just want to make sure that this won't hurt the amp.

i've also been thinking of trying a matched quad of the E34L's instead of 6L6's because i've heard they tighten it up a bit. (no, i don't want it to be mark IV tight. although the mark is a wonderful amp, please don't suggest to get a mark :D ) any suggestions with that? i've heard great things about eurotubes and will probably buy from them. thanks for the information everyone!

As long as you tell Bob or whoever you talk to at eurotubes.com what amp you're using it in, they will be plug 'n play in the DR, and they won't hurt anything. The integrated quad is cool, but I prefer a quad of the JJ E34L's in mine, they definitely add a different flavor to the DR and give it a little more "punch" IMO. I highly recommend eurotubes.com from my experiences with them and the tones I get with the JJ's are perfect for me.

thanks for the info guys. that review was incredibly helpful! i think i'll probably end up getting a set of JJ E34L's to try something different and see what i like. right now, i have a matched quad of JJ 6L6GC's and like those a lot, but i'd like to try something different. i'm also running a Mesa SPAX7 in V1 and Groove Tubes Ecc83s in the rest. i'm liking my sound but would really like to try the E34L's
