On my weeks old MKV, when I step on the EQ button on the footswitch, the EQ circuit does not turn on. Neither do the EQ LEDs on both the footswitch and the amp. For the first couple of weeks that I had my amp it seemed to work fine.

All other footswitch buttons, LEDs, and corresponding amp circuits continue to work as expected.

All eight pairs of pins and a ground on the footswitch cable test positive for connectivity.

What could be wrong?

Try swapping ends of the footswitch cable.

Wow, that actually works. Thanks! I'm intrigued to know why?

Will the amp always need the cable to be in this particular orientation to work? ...If so I should probably place a distinguishing mark at the amp end of the footswitch cable so that I don't look tooconfused at a gig.

I don't think it has anything to do with orientation, it just got a better connection when reversed. Mine was fading in and out when I got it, so I swapped it and it's worked fine ever since.

Also, some (including me) have had problems with the weight of the cord actually pulling down on the connection into the amp so that the connection isn't complete. I may not be describing this well. My simple fix was to take the footswitch cord and loop it through the handle on the head before plugging it into the back of the amp. This takes the weight off of that connection. Search around in the forums, I believe others have had success with actually bending the metal connection part out a bit to achieve a more solid connection.

I've experienced this same problem...and at first I was stumped. turned out to be the cable connection was loose....
