Well ... to be perfectly honest.. ! ... I say ''mess uhh booogie''.. should we all say that when some poor singer sneezes on mike ?.. where did the name come from anyway.. what is MESA .. I think the Boogie bits fairly well linked to what Santana said when he first heard one.
Im rather more interested in the mesa bit. Somehow I rather think it could be an Americanism rather than directly taken from the Spanish 'Table' .. 'Table Boogie' .!! .. no.. I'm terribly sorry old chap.. that doesn't quite work for me, Ive seen table dancing and its not quite the recto thing.

Mesa came from when Randall was looking for "professional sounding name" to work out some contracts with suppliers. He wanted to sound like a real company instead of some dude in his garage, which is what he was back then. To him Mesa "had a professional ring," so he called the company Mesa Engineering. My guess is perhaps since he was in California, he saw the word Mesa somewhere due to the Mexican influence in California?? I really doubt he picked table boogie engineering. That'd be ridiculous.

my Webster's has Mesa with the long A....MAY-suh...and, being a member of the Noth Alabama Mesa Mafia, I am surprised our suthun' drawl is correct for a change!of course, I have relatives who say "SI-REEEEEN" for "siren"
