The Electradyne has better pure tone, if you are the type who likes to really connect with an amp. It provides that older Marshall JMP experience where you can concentrate on playing and feel that amp connection. The Mark V is for the guy who likes all the options, but I would argue that all of the OD tones still sound similar. You can get lots of tones out of the ED, clean to metal, even dropped D modern rock. Plus, the ED takes pedals soooo well, it can add a channel in a sense.
