I normally play my Mark V with the effects loop engaged. The only thing I have in the loop is an Eventide Timefactor. Something I have noticed is that with this delay powered up, but with neither of the two effects banks engaged, my tone is less bright and sounds less present. The moment I engage either bank, the amp springs to life. It is brighter and more present and the tone seems to jump out significantly. A friend of mine said he thought that something about the Eventide was opening up the amp more when an effects bank was engaged. Is that really the case, or is there a simpler explanation? Any advice is appreciated!

The Eventide can be configured to run either a buffered or non-buffered bypass. Try playing with both settings to see which works best for you.
