Tobacco Burst is one of the new colors available on the BFRs and I ordered a JP6 BFR in Tobacco Burst today! I actually upgraded my order from a standard JP7 in Lava Pearl to a JP6 BFR in Tobacco Burst. There are only two BFRs in this color in existence - one is Petrucci's personal guitar and the other is a guy named Paul Warren's. Both of theirs are quilted top - mine will be flame top. Anyway, I took an EB forum member's flamed top Bahama Blue Burst BFR pic and edited it in Photoshop to look like the Tobacco Burst color I am getting. Here's the EDITED picture. The color should be somewhat close. I used a picture of Paul's to get it about as close as I can get it (IMO).

She's a beaut!:

Here's the original I used for editing:

How many JP guitars do you have? How much do those BFR cost anyway? Don't you lose the sweet oiled neck with those?

I just have one JP right now. I sold the White one to buy an F-30 combo and help pay for another JP. I ended up changing my order from the JP7 I ordered to a BFR. The BFRs run around $2600 or so... Needless to say, it will be the last guitar purchase for a LONG time.

And, yes, the BFR has a finished neck, but I've heard it plays just fine still. The standard JP has an unfinished neck. It's smooth as a baby's bottom.

sweet jesus, you have to post pics when you get this thing. if it looks anything like the edited pic up there i'd have a constant hard on while playing it.

It's a shame they lot the oiled birdseye neck. I thought that was the sexiest thing about the JP guitars. $2600's not too bad. That's what I spent on my Hamer and I got a great deal on it.

They finished the BFR's neck because they switched woods for better tone. It's a mahogany neck and the finish was needed to strengthen the neck. The body is alder with a mahogany tone block under the pickups - and of course with a maple top. All this provides for a better tone. The standard JP is basswood body and birdseye maple neck. The neck is very sexy indeed!
