Hey

I have finally come to the conclusion I dont like my bridge custom 5 with the DR . I like the dimebucker in my 2nd guitar way more . The C5 is just too scooped and misses the mid crunch compared to the dimebucker . Looking at the duncan site the SH15 Alt 8 looks interesting . even a step beyond the dime in mids

anyone use one through a recto amp ? any thoughts ?

I was going to buy an Alt 8 but decided to go with the AHB1 blackouts. I'm very impressed with these pups. I like them better than my EMG's. I've noticed between the two that the EMG's sustain alot longer that the Blackouts. probably because of the the guitar its in. If you don't want actives, I'd suggest Dimarzio X2N.

+1

I have tried alot of pups, and always come back to the Blackouts.

A buddy has a guitar with a X2N and it is actually pretty close in feel and tone to an AHB-1.

cheers guys. I dont wanna go the active route. I'm gonna give the alt 8 a go .Its pretty extreme in its eq ratings so its a good way to push thelimtis and see whats too much. Also gonna modify by C5 to a C8 by changing the magnet. Its real popular over at the seymour duncan forums and everyone raves about it

Let us know how it sounds. I'm curious too about the alt8

chucked in the alt 8 last night and so far it sounds great . really adds the mid crunch the C5 was lacking . it's a really wide sound . really big . and so far the lead sound is great . singing without harsh highs

Glad you like it. I may eventually swap out one of my pups and try the alt 8. Thanks for the info!
Cheers!
