What settings do you use for a good saturated metal? Punchy power chords, without the fizz.

I have a newer Dual Recto 3ch. I upgraded the powertubes to JJ6L6s. And play it through a G-flex. (the g-flex isn't a good for the DR, IMO)

Sounds like you want a 2 ch. Read up some on the 2 ch's. I have one and it is insane through a Traditional cab.

I just read your other post too and you say the G-flex isn't good with a Rec there too. What is it about the G-flex you don't like? I am considering getting one.

Because it looks like it belongs in the back of a conversion van that has been slammed to the ground and has lights all along the ceiling and floor. :) Sorry I have to express my hate for the looks of the cab.

I like the 3 ch. I read ppl claiming the 2 ch. sound better... but I can't say that I agree.

This tone sounds good:

-POWER- to -BOLD-

Orange Channel-
Vintage mode-

Presence 12:30
Volume- 11:30 (I play loud =)
Gain- 12:30 - 1:00
Bass- 8:45 (because of G-flex)
Mids- 1:30
Treble- 11:45 - 12:15

imo, with the bass turned down to 8:45 it takes away some saturation. Witht he G-flex it has too much 'throb' and not enough 'umph' if that makes sense?

However, the G-flex is Awesome with the Laney GH50L (it's a hot rodded jcm 800) and witht he F-50. It excels!

The DRs are voiced to low for the g-flex, imho.

Thoughts?

I don't care for the looks of my KK Audio cab either, but, it does sound better than a Mesa Thiele and it's more versatile. You can close the front port and make it a sealed cab. You can also open the back panel and it becomes open back. It is like having a tunable open back cabinet because the rear panel has a tight fitting rear door that latches shut when you seal it. Again, I really dig the cabinet but its looks aren't all that. The G-flex isn't pretty but it apparently sounds really good in the right rig combination.

I had my 2 ch sounding pretty tonally close to where I used to dial my JCM800 to a couple days ago.

Greg,

What if there was sound activated neons on it?
