Dual Recto head as preamp?

Has anybody ever used a Dual Rectifier head as a preamp? How would you do that? The effects out into the input of another power amp?

You would have to make sure you have a speaker cabinet or a dummy load plugged into the speaker outs, otherwise you would fry the output transformer.

Or you could pull the power tubes.

In theory you could do it by just turning the output level control down to zero (since it's after the FX loop), but I wouldn't try it because the Rectifier power stage is unstable and can self-oscillate with no load, even with no input signal to it. If it does that it's the same as running the amp at full power with no speaker and you'll almost certainly blow something. But with the power tubes out, it can't produce any power and so is safe.
