Hi to all Mesa boogie dual Rectifier Ouners.

Firs y have to say sorry about mi Eanglish, i´m form Santiago de Chile South America so y try to remember mi years ago school eanglish class..

The last week y buy mi firs Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, i change it for a Marshall JVM 410H.. good amp but very very noise, a lot of uhhhh and sssshhhhshh in the overdrive Channel´s, so y try a Single Rectifier of a friend, and the diference was increadible... no noise.... and incredible overdrive... So i go for a Dual Rectifier and buy it last nigt by Ebay.

well, here whe have 220 Volts so y have to buy a Transformer to 110 Volts, That´s ok, but any body knows what it´s the imput Watt´s that the Dual Rect, work? mi ex marshall work with 350 watts and this it branded on the back of the amp y got a Line 6 spider valve and it´s brabded with this information too, but the mesa boogie doesn´t said anithing about this, i read all the manual and they don´t said nothing about this...

any body can helpme with this information?

Thanks a Lot

Eric.

It will be close to what the Marshall spec is.
The filaments and the output tubes use the bulk of the power, the rest uses a smaller percentage.
Any 100 watt amp will be close to this.
If it works on the JVM 410, it will work for the Dual Rec.

Good luck! :D

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.. but i don´t have the tranformer yet, i haver to make one, the JVM has the correct 220 volts to work in Chile.

but with the mesa y have to transform the 220 volts to 110, but i have to match te watts. th JVM Said that it work´s with 350 watts.

i guess the JVM has to be like Mesa but i prefer to be realy sure, all electrical thinhs said the watts they use, effect, multieffects, microwaves, LCD, etc.. but Mesa boogie don´t... it´s strange...

y try to comunicate with mesa boogie but they dont have a e-mail put in the web page, anybody have mase boogie cutomeer support e-mail?

Thanks

The watts available from your power source won't matter. Your amp is not like a speaker. If you get your wall voltage knocked down to 110 you will be fine. The information you found on the back of your Marshall and Line 6 is how much power they consume from the wall outlet. Your wall outlet is capable of MUCH MORE power than those amps could ever draw. It's like a power supply for your pedal board. It is capable of powering many pedals but it won't fry one pedal if that one pedal is all you have hooked up to it. Just get the correct voltage and all is good.

Also, you can figure it this way:

Simple ohms law will tell you that 115 volts x 3 amps (3 amp fuse is most common size for Mesa up to 100 watts output) is equal to 345 watts...and that is the maximum power....in real life it is less. So if you have a converter rated at 350 or more, you should be OK.
It is always a good idea to allow some "headroom" as it will run cooler and may last longer, so you may wish to consider 400 or even 500 watts rating if it is affordable.

Again, good luck! :D

Pefect!!! that it´s the aswer i´m looking for!! that match with something i hear in other place, so i think this is it.

thanks a lot,

now i´m waiting for mi dual rectifier 2 or 3 weeks, and i think, i´m going to participate a lot in this Forum.

There are no more than 30 dual rectifier in chile, so i´m very exited about have this great amp.

Thanks

Eric

He has to have a transformer to bring it down from 220 to 110. It needs to be rated at a certain wattage or he'll either A) blow the transformer, or B) cook the amp by underpowering it.

My Dual Rec has a 4 amp fuse.
