I tried to search this topic, sorry if it has been mentioned. I have been hooking my 2 channel dual rectifier from the 8 ohm jack to the 8ohm on my rectifier 4x12. Is there a difference in sound if I plug 2 cables from the two 4 ohm jacks on the DR, to the two 4 ohm jacks on the cabinet? I guess that would be stereo?
I need to know before I buy another speaker cable.

That's not how you connect stuff, you might damage your amp if you do that.

The 4 ohm outputs on your amp are meant to be routed to two 8 ohm inputs, one on each cab. If you route two 4 ohm outs into two 4 ohm cabs, you're gonna over-drive your output transformer and possibly damage it. As well, your power tubes won't last as long.

It won't give you stereo, because a guitar is a mono signal. It will drive 2 cabs instead of one, both of them playing the same signal that the amp feeds them. If you get a stereo pedal (any modulation pedal like chorus, flanger, etc.) then you can use that to split it for a stereo sound.

Thanks, good thing I asked.. how about just one 4ohm out on DR to the 4ohm on the 4x12? Then I get one side of sound and then the other side comes from my TRiaxis/2:90 4ohm out, to the other 4ohm jack on the cab (other side). I have been running it like that lately for smaller gigs when not using two 4x12s. That way I can blend to 2 amps out of one 4x12 cab. Will that damage anything?

I don't think you can do that either, unless you have a cab whereby each set of 2x12 is on a different circuit. To my knowledge, if you feed all four speakers 2 separate 4 ohm signals, you're probably gonna do some damage to them.

Even if you don't, you won't get a very good tone, because the amps subtle nuances in tone are gonna be fighting for the same speaker. Since the entire point of playing two amps together is to mix their "voices" with each other in a clear way (IE: one through each 4x12), it's probably counter productive to have them battling for the same speakers. Maybe it works, I'm not sure, I've never tried it heh. But as for the actual electrical side of things, I think it's not the best idea, but I'm not 100% sure.

It says split for stereo or biamp on the 4x12 traditional recto cab. They are both 4ohm jacks on the cab. If that isn't a good idea, how would you do it? What is the point of the two 4ohm jacks?

That's perfectly fine to do. Won't hurt anything

Thanks guys. I try to use two 4x12's when I can but some gigs require a small rig or one 4x12, and the tonal options are incredible with the Dual Rectifier and Triaxis.
