I have a Dual Rectifier, my 3ch modern sounds "weak" compared to the 2ch modern! My setting are:
Presence: almost full
Master: 10:00
Gain: 3:00
Bass: 11:00
Mid: 1:30
Treb: 3:00

Both ch. 2 and 3 are set to these setting and the 2nd channel sounds more aggresive. Why could this be happening? I have el34s (Mesa), set to vacuum tubes, and bold.
Please help!

Per the Mesa manual: The Channel 3 Presence pot has a lot more top end available. The Presence Pot on Channel 2 set to max is comparable to Channel 3 set to only about 10 0'clock.

If you dig the sound of Channel 2 set as you have it, back off the Channel 3 Presence to 10 O'clock and they should sound
pretty similar.

Thanks. Yea I read that... Did some tweaking and I got it to sound better! Thanks for that reminder!

The Gain on 3:00 is also ... suspicious. It might work - depending on your pickups and the overall volume - but you should probably back it off a little ...

That's why is that high! It doesn't seem right, to have my gain that high and still sounding weak... I play at bedroom volume and my main pickups are: Dimarzio Tone Zone, Emg 81/85, and Dimarzio FS-1. High output pickups! Any thoughts UnderJollyRoger?!?

i had the same problem with my triple when i got it....had to have the gain high and also pushing extra gain with a tube screamer.....opened the amp up to do some mods and low and behold my gain pots were only 100k instead of the 250k they were supposed to be per the schematic. I put 1Meg pots in place and now run my gain at 9 o'clock and it crushes.

That's what I'm looking to do right now, looking for a tubescreamer for some boost. I'm might have to check out my pots then... Hmmm. Any pots will do? Or are there specific ones?

Of all my amps the Rectifier sounds the worst at bedroom volumes. If you're looking for nice bedroom high gain, look at a 6505+. Nice clean saturation at any volume. My triple sounds pretty harsh until the windows are rattling. Then it starts making me smile.

What pots did you get? And from where?

Yup.....but go for the small 16mm pots.....the full size 24mm mots WILL NOT be able to get past the circuit board to line up with the hole. Also I would go with a audio taper pot as it will still be able to get to the lower gain regions easier. I used linear taper pots and as soon as you hit about 9 o'clock on the gain it is pretty well raping balls brutal. There is no lo-gain region what so ever with a linear pot....but that's how I like it lol.
