Hopefully if the sale of some of my kit comes through this weekend, I will have a Dual Rectifier on its way shortly.

When I spent some time with the Dual before deciding it was the amp I was looking for, it was hooked up to a 212 Marshall with V30s.

Now I was going for the 212 Rect cab V30 but one or two guys have suggested I need to check out the Roadster cab with the Dual Rect as it is better suited to 'tighter' metal tones?

So can someone explain to me what the tonal differences are between the Roadster and Rectifier cabs? Thanks!

The Roadster 2x12 is a Stiletto 2x12 with black piping instead of silver. Read up on Stiletto vs Rectifier cabs to compare the overall tonality of the two.

You will more then likley be happier with the recto 2x12, plenty of tight and more bass then the roadster 2x12.

It depends on your sound/music preferences or the way you play. For metal choose the rectifier (4X12 even better), the roadster is more versatil though.

It depends on what style of music you wish to play.

If you like deep, heavy bass, almost "nu-metal" like--the Rectifier cab will win because of it's bigger dimensions. You will get a more scooped sound with emphasis on the lows.

If you want a tighter sound, for something like speed metal, get the other cab (like the Stilleto cab) as its dimensions are smaller and will yield a tighter bass response with more emphasis on mids.

Cab suggestions:

1) Mesa Boogie Road King 2 x 12. Great cab with a close back v30 enclosure and a 3/4 back c90 enclosure, both built into the same cab. It has a very flat response in a good way.

2) Mills Mach212B. I did a build project based off of this design. It HAULS. It is phat and super tight, all at the same time. Almost thinks it is a 4 x 12.
