Has anyone tried taking out two of the power tubes and one of the rectifier tubes to run the Dual Rec at 50W instead of 100W? Wondering if it's worth it to achieve great hard rock (not metal) tones. Also wondering about putting EL34's in. Anyone tried that and what were the tonal results?

Equipment: Dual Rec, 1x12 and 2x12 Roadster Cabs, Strat/Carvin C4M, TU-2, NS-2, Cry Baby, CS-3, DD-6, DD20 Giga Delay, Line6 DL4, GE-7, BBE Sonic Stomp.

I run JJ E34L's in mine and love them!! I've tried pulling 2 powertubes and 1 rectifier tube, but I prefer all the tubes in, just didn't feel as full to me. There are plenty of hard rock tones available in the DR, I run channel 2 in raw and channel 3 vintage and it works a lot better in the band mix IMO than vintage on 2 and modern on 3.
