As the title suggests do any of you guys who own dual rec's run em into Marshall stereo cabs ?

How do they sound ?

What would be the correct way to connect them ?

thanks for any help

I'm not a recto owner, but I would imagine you would just match the impedance of the recto's output with the impedance of the cab. Make sure your switch is set accordingly (4/16 ohms mono/8 ohms stereo)! Otherwise, Marshall cab = teh owned. :D

If the speakers haven't been switched out in the past, I'm sure you'll experience a deeper low and high end due to the G12-T75's that are in the cab. I'd suggest dialing in a bit of midrange or else your rig will sound like one big fart. :p

what exactly do you want to know ??
how a recto sound through a marshall cab at all ?
or especially how it sounds in stereo ?

yeah

I am curious of how it sounds with a marshall cab compared to a Mesa cab for the people that have tried both.

does it hold up well with a marshall ? should I be looking to get a Mesa cab ?

I am hoping to have my Duel rec in the next week or so so I will know how the Marshall cab sounds but still no idea how to compare it to a Mesa cab.

I have only played Marshall Amps and Cabs I have owned a few different heads and combos and what not.

thanks for the replys

And also what is the best way to run the marshall cab like should it be run in stereo or mono ?

i´ve never tried a recto cab
but i´ve tried to play the amp in stereo on a engl cab and it sounded weak and very undefined
the low end gets a lot more muddy
i also have a 1960A JCM 800 cab with G12-65 speakers
and this gets the best sound out of the recto
sounds a lot like greenbacks but with a bit more balls

i don´t own a marshal 1960 A with g12T-75 speakers but a played a lot of gigs through these and i liked the sound a lot more with these than with my engl but you have to be careful with the highs
(which are a bit of a problem with every setup on DR´s)

if you got a bit more money left i would recommend you a marshall 1960 AX. greenbacks are a good choice for a recto

i have been using 2 marshall cabs with my triple rectifier. a straight front with vintage 30's and a slant with 75's i like the sound of the75's the best. it has tight bottom end. the 30's seem to get muddy at higher volumes.

if i run 1 cab i usually run it at 16 ohms. with 2 cabs i run them in 16 ohms in the cabs and plug them into 8 ohms jacks on the amp.

I run my dual rectifier (3 chnl) through a 1960a cab. Made in 1970, with the older gt-75's. this cabinet sounds tiiiiiiight. absolutely wins over the stndrd and oversized rectifier cabinets. and even sounds better than the peavey XXX cab, and the new JSX cab. i play hard rock/metal mostly. but a few funky and bluesy tunes clean. hope this helps!

OK I have played them all, Mesa oversized, mesa traditional, marshall AV (V30's) and Marshall Lead (75's). I have also played every varience you can imagine, from straight fronts, to slanted, old marshall cabintes compared to the new, so here is what I have tell you.

Understand when you hear alot of people say the mesa cabinets have a looser bottem end, most of the time the people are talking about the mesa oversized cab, and this is true.

Being an oversized cab there is more internal volume, this cuts the mids and makes the bottem end looser. These was great for the late 90's nu metal wall of sound, but for tighter metal and rock it is not that good.

Marshall cab with 75's compared to Mesa oversized, well yes the 75's will have a tighter bottem end, however they have more of the mid's cut and sound thin. Alot of people love this sound when playing by themselves, however in a band situation it is not good as you will get lost in the mix.

For Marshall style amps I love the 75's, probaly because they have so much midrange, a little to much when played through a V30 cab.

For my mesa Recto's, well i need the V30 traditional cab, because these amps are already mid cut so the V30 equals it out.

So to recap,

Marshall amps, my stiletto and my Mark IV I play through the 75 cab.

For my recto's, V30 traditional cab all the way.

that's all you really need to know right there IMO.

Understand that during the design process, a Dual Recto was tested with a Mesa cab and vice-versa. It only makes sense from a design point of view that they will complement each other the best.

Marshalls are testest with Marshall cabs, Diezel with Diezel, etc.

Matching the manufacturer's products together let's you hear how the amp was intended to sound. FWIW, mesa cabs are constructed very well, both inside and out.

i own a dual rec with a 1960b lead with stock g12-75s and i will say that mine sounds just a bit thin for my tastes but if you eq properly you can get a good sound. its tight but personally i look for SOME boominess in my sound. i've played on an oversized, a traditional, and my 1960. but i've also cranked the marshall higher than the mesa cabs i've played on. personally i like the oversized cab the best for my style but may i suggest at least trying a 1960 vintage series with v30s. many have recommended this to me as apparently you get the tightness of the marshall cab but the mids of the v30s. all in all its personal preference in my opinion so try out as many kinds as you can and spend some time with them. anyone else agree with trying a marshall 1960av or 1960bv? am i wrong in thinking its the mix between a rectifier cab and a 1960 lead?
